AI adoption in dentistry is not the same as adoption of autonomous telephone booking. The ADA’s Q2 2026 report found 43.3% of surveyed dentists used AI for at least one task, but 9.2% reported using it for appointment scheduling. The AI findings were based on 552 responses from dentists in private practice; they do not isolate voice receptionists or establish booking accuracy. This is earlier-quarter context, not October news. (ada.org)
Our recommended dental booking integrity test: require evidence of the correct patient, appointment type, clinician, location and duration in the practice-management system. Include an unavailable slot, a duplicate request, a cancellation restriction and an integration timeout.
Keep clinical questions outside an administrative pilot’s authority. A successful administrative conversation should not be scored as permission to offer clinical advice.
