There is no defensible universal figure for your business without call and fulfilment data. Estimate incremental completed jobs, then apply contribution after fulfilment costs—not gross revenue to every missed ring.
Use this desk calculation:
Incremental contribution = additional completed jobs attributable to the new handling process × contribution per completed job.
A hypothetical example:
| Step | Illustrative result |
|---|---|
| Unanswered call attempts | 800 |
| Unique enquiries after deduplication | 500 |
| Eligible opportunities after exclusions | 200 |
| Completed jobs under the proposed handling process | 60 |
| Completed jobs expected under the existing process | 40 |
| Incremental completed jobs | 20 |
| Assumed contribution per job | $150 |
| Incremental contribution before additional answering costs | $3,000 |
Every number above is an assumption, not a market benchmark or a forecast.
The difficult input is the comparator: what would have happened without the AI? Some callers may already be recovered through callbacks, web booking or another branch. Prefer a contemporaneous comparison where feasible, and account for differences in capacity, marketing spend and seasonality.
A useful missed-call recovery estimator should be able to return “insufficient incremental demand”, not just a large revenue number.
