Which 2026 developments should affect a current shortlist?

Refresh product scope and operating assumptions; do not infer better outcomes from a launch. Three verified developments are particularly relevant:

  • Monitoring remains a live operating issue. NIST published its deployed-AI monitoring report on 6 March 2026, identifying challenges beyond pre-deployment testing. Include an operating plan in the purchase, not only a launch test. (nist.gov)
  • Contact-centre suite offers need current verification. Five9 announced a new Voice AI Agents release on 23 June 2026. A comparison based only on an earlier IVR product description may miss the current offer; the announcement itself is not proof of customer-specific performance. (five9.com)
  • Voice evaluation is becoming more explicit about different kinds of quality. EVA-Bench, published in May 2026, separates accuracy and experience and tests robustness under accent and noise changes. Its benchmark results should inform test design, not be imported as expected completion rates for a dental or HVAC deployment. (arxiv.org)

These are reasons to request fresh evidence. They are not market-growth estimates or reasons to bypass a controlled pilot.
