The outcome and accountability boundary change. The same receptionist shortlist should not simply be reused. These are our recommended comparison adjustments.
| Buyer/workflow | Compare | Define success as | Additional approval gate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Inbound lead qualification | AI qualification, human sales development and faster routing | An eligible opportunity with accurate CRM data and the agreed next step | Approved qualification rules and evidence of downstream acceptance |
| Outbound lead response or reactivation | Approved human calling, approved artificial-voice calling and non-call alternatives | A compliant, qualified next step—not merely a connected call | Campaign-specific consent, calling and suppression review |
| BPO transformation | Human delivery, AI-assisted staff, autonomous completion and hybrid delivery | The client’s contracted outcome at an acceptable total cost and risk | Client permission, data/subprocessor approval and revised responsibility allocation |
For BPOs, model both the client’s economics and the outsourcer’s delivery economics. Do not count reduced handling time as a benefit to both parties without showing how the contract allocates that value. Require a separate decision on who funds exceptions, quality review and remediation.
